A brand-new wind farm

After 20 years in operation, the Rivesaltes wind farm was completely dismantled in early 2021, to be replaced in 2023 by six new wind turbines: two 70m high and four 100m high.

All the various materials dismantled were recycled and reused in the new park, and the paddles converted into street furniture.

A fine "repowering" project to replace the eight existing turbines and offer more power and less noise pollution.

This new wind farm meets the objectives of the fight against climate change. Its output of around 24 GWH/year represents 50% more energy than the old wind turbines.
That's equivalent to the electricity needs of 5,000 households!

In partnership with Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole, the city has launched its 1st zero waste market in September 2021: the 1st in the département!

The principle? The weekly Monday morning market on the Allées Joffre generates a certain amount of waste to be recovered and recycled.

So, selective sorting is carried out and bio-waste is collected by municipal services directly on site: in the direction of the commune's allotment gardens, where composters are installed to produce compost.
Allotment garden users have also been trained to produce and use this useful and enriching compost for the farmland.

Positive-energy buildings

The new complex of buildings on the Allées du Maréchal Joffre will house :

  • The Tourist Office
  • The Medical Center (with a pharmacy, medical analysis laboratory and healthcare professionals)
  • Rivesaltes Personal Income Tax Department (SIP)

The building's roof terrace is covered with a series of photovoltaic panels (between 450 and 500 m2), and represents one of the first projects in the département to produce electricity for self-consumption.

This photovoltaic array powers the tourist office, the town hall and its annex, the police station.
Surplus electricity is then sent to the Joseph-Sébastien Pons elementary school and the Dômes complex.

Other photovoltaic panels have also been installed at Entreprises Méditerranée and in the parking lot at Perpignan Rivesaltes Méditerranée airport.
