The heart of Rivesaltes!
You're now standing on the site of the old ditches (lining the ramparts) that existed until 1738, when they were filled in. The most visible feature is the Tour de l'Horloge (Clock Tower), a former town gate known as "Rastillou" (the portcullis). This gate was begun in 1102, completely destroyed and rebuilt in 1755, and finally remodeled and raised around 1827, on which the bell and its campanile were installed.
